However removing the asbestos siding first though more expensive is the best alternative in the long run. Inspecting the walls under the siding when the old siding is removed from your home the home siding contractor will inspect the wall and insulation to ensure it is okay. Cut into square or rectangular shapes and is layered vertically to give the impression of many layers of shingles. If the siding cedar or hardboard is in good shape and the substrate is wood it is foolish to remove the old siding.
