Sap in painted wood will cause staining but it is ok in the attic.

As with all other types of mold orange mold grows wherever there is moisture heat and a food source however orange mold differs from other types because it is more likely to grow on wood than other organic materials.

There are these tiny crystals about half a millimeter all over the wood in the attic.

I am guessing it is a preservative but all the literature says that the copper preservatives are green in color and these are definitely bright golden copper color and the only references to preservatives that use particles say they are much smaller in size than these.
